The Annual Gathering of the Network Brokering Intercultural Exchange took place at Heilbronn University in Germany May 23 – 25, 2019. More than 30 participants from all 6 continents of the world took part, from Canada to New Zealand, from Uruguay to Ghana. Key issues in contemporary intercultural cultural exchange were addressed through well-prepared and energetic interventions by academics, researchers and practitioners of ages ranging from early 20s to late 40s. Over two days participants enjoyed challenging each other’s perceptions and conceptions on topics related to justice and culture, rights and access, social models for community ownership and participation in the US and Europe, as well as sampling what the area in Baden-Wurttemberg surrounding the campus in Kunzelsau had to offer in terms of environmental beauty, heritage and culinary delights.
Work is already underway to assess outcomes and map out the way forward and future appointments. So watch this space!
